Newsarama had an interesting post about Wizard World Chicago last month. It wasn't the content of the post that interested me so much as it was the content of the comments. The convention floor report had a brief mention of J. Scott Campbell and "his girlfriend, Christy Marie", a popular Princess Leia cosplayer. Some of the comments were:

I thought he was already married with a kid living in Colorado?

She's also a bit young. Can't possibly be more than 22, 23-ish.

I think the writer may have been misinformed and should probably watch his words more carefully as it seems a bit disrespectful to Campbell's wife...unless we're in the wrong.

Other posts on this topic seem to validate the relationship.

It goes to show that comic fans are just as curious about our celebrities as tabloids are theirs. Rich Johnston's Lying In The Gutters often touches on matters bordering on personal: creator feuds, payment disputes, Mid-Ohio Comicon gropings, etc.

One of my favorite bits of gossip was the cocaine use at Extreme Studios during the Image Comics hayday. As Rob Liefeld put it:

I was pretty much coked out for the better part of two years before I got clean, everybody at Extreme was dopin' it up. The place was a wall-to-wall drugstore. How do you think we all stayed up for forty-eight hour binges getting all those books out?

What a tawdry nugget that was. Still doesn't explain his obsession with shoulder pads.

I'm going to put a shout out to any of you who have unsubstantiated dirt on the writers and artists of comics - let me know and I'll post it here like it's Entertainment Tonight.

    I've seen her at cons. She's a pretty girl but she's not all that. LOL at the Liefeld pic.
